India
We visited Agra, Dehli and Bangalore. The Taj Mahal was amazing and the people were so friendly.
June 15: Around the World in 42 Days- Bengaluru, India
So today was a chill and relax kind of day.Aleisha and I woke up after Ansley rang our doorbell in the early morning because my dad left for work, and she was all alone. We got ready and went to Breakfast at this nice buffet place; I got chocolate chip pancakes. They even sliced KIWI especially for Ansley after she asked if they had it and they didn't.Then we went back to the hotel room, where Aleisha worked on her accounting quiz and philosophy essay, while Ansley watched YouTube and I, well did nothing.I entertained myself by typing this, playing on my phone, and coming up with random games. Then we all went to lunch, where I got a veggie burger and a mock-tail.We had to eat fast because Ansley and my massage sessions started at 3:00.Aleisha’s massage session was later than ours at 4:00 because they couldn't book all three of ours at the same time. The people started laughing the second Aleisha told them we were here for our massages, apparently kids don't get massages to often here.So the massage felt so good! The place was so nice as well. We all got 90-minute massages and it was paradise.Anyway, while Ansley and I waited for Aleisha, we discovered the different services our hotel butler provided, and we requested pillows, not just any pillows, memory foam pillows! Then Ansley watched YouTube and I watched over her shoulder. When Aleisha returned, she began working on finishing her essay. Meanwhile, Ansley tried to do a surprise takedown, triggering a wrestling match between me and her. I won like every time, the score was like 120-0.Then Ansley and I made a plan while Aleisha was not around, to act like I threw her and she broke her arm. Showtime, I threw her on the bed and she started rolling around, screeching; Aleisha was laughing thinking Ansley was a complete wimp, so I too laughed to not cause suspicion. Then I jumped back screaming “Ansley’s bleeding” Aleisha stared at me running over “her arm” I squealed. Aleisha believed us, she had no clue what to do, yet afterward admitted she saw no blood and was confused how Ansley could of cut herself. Anyway, we told her and she burst into laughter. Later, we watched a really good movie, Blended, it was awesome! It was so funny! Then we stopped the movie halfway to go to dinner at the really nice Thai Restaurant. I got Pad Thai. Then when we returned, we finished the movie. Then we just got ready for bed and Aleisha did my eyebrows. Then we just hung out and went to bed.Gotta say I'm living the life:)
June 14: Around the World in 42 Days- Bengaluru, India
So today was a domestic travel day. We traveled from Delhi, India to Bengaluru, India. So we woke up at 7 AM, yay! Then we got ready, went down to the buffet for breakfast, I got fruit. I soon learned Ansley threw up 2 times last night, poor girl, she was really sick and that never really changed over the course of the day.We had a hotel car drop us off at the airport, where we had to first stand in a line to allow security guards to check to make sure we had tickets. Then we were in this long line to drop off our luggage, yet got to skip the line after our flight was called and we got to go to the front of the line. No clue why, yet either way that's awesome. We checked bags, went through security, the usual. Ansley, however, was so sick this whole time, and eventually, Aleisha had to pick her up and carry her to our gate.On the plane I got caught up with typing out my blogs, I was a bit behind, though I’m all caught up now. Shout out to my mom who helped me get caught back up after I sent her entries to edit. Love you, Mommy!Other than work on my blogs I also slept, though it was a short flight so that was a pro. After we got off the plain, we grabbed our luggage, and an airport worker escorted us to our chauffeur, all arranged by our hotel. My dad feels India is a difficult place to travel, therefore tries to protect us. Though if it was up to me, I would want a traditional, local experience, not where I’m always sheltered. Though I know a traditional experience would be rough like the train station story, those are the things you learn from the most, when things don’t turn out perfect. Though I also acknowledge my little sister would be dramatized by a completely local experience, so my dad tries to keep it 50/50.Anyway, when we got to our hotel, I just don’t have words. It was so nice! We walked through a metal detector and the second we walked through the lobby doors, it was so luxurious. The rooms smelled of lilac, a different experience than our damp, musty smelling room at our other hotel. There was this IPad that controlled everything from controlling lights, ordering room service, temperature, entertainment, you name it. The Hotel had this huge nice garden surrounding its exterior, and the pool was clear as a diamond. Our floor butler was always coming and asking if we needed help with anything, asking if we needed anything, he even brought us fresh juice. We explored the room, then Aleisha and I headed down to eat at one the hotel's restaurants. Ansley threw up 5 minutes before, which caused my dad and her to stay behind and get room service.I got a veggie burger at the general restaurant we went to. When we returned Ansley threw up again and now aleisha too was sick. Aleisha threw up 3 times, Ansley 4. India was definitely not having mercy on us. My dad says it's normal for people to get sick their first time to India, there's a reason he loses 7 pounds every time he comes her. My explanation for this is India is so different, the food, atmosphere, even water is different. It takes the time to get used to. Later that day, after Aleisha and Ansley were feeling a bit better, we all went down to the pool. I swam and they joined me while they waited for their drinks, we played games, had fun, then all this was ruined the second their drinks came, it was like “Hasta Luego”. Though I convinced Aleisha to talk to me about different topics she learned in college, what I love to learn. Later the three of us prepared for dinner, we ended up running into my dad and his team at the restaurant we chose to eat dinner. I got to say hi, introduce myself, then Aleisha, Ansley, and I went off to be seated. I ended up getting Fajitas, they were good. After dinner, we went to look at the koi fish, said bye to my dad and his team, then walked around the garden a bit, it was so relaxing! Then we got ready for bed and that concluded my day. Gotta say I’m living the dream:)
June 13:Around the World in 42 Days-Delhi, India
Today was a crazy day!It started at 5:30 when Aleisha woke me up because we needed to catch our train at 8:00.We were going to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. We got dressed, and grabbed everything we needed for the rest the day.We ate breakfast in the buffet, it was good. Then we had a taxi take us to the train station, once again another roller coaster! Cars drive so crazy in India! Also, along the roads, all I saw was homeless people sleeping on the ground or in tents, and a bunch of poor kids begging for money. I felt so bad!Plus everywhere I looked, I saw pollution, gross! At the train station, everyone stared at us right away, we definitely drew attention to ourselves. We were not only the only white people, yet also we were the only people dressed in clothes other than sari’s. So yeah! We had to walk through security, then when we eventually got down to where the trains were, we were stared to death by everyone around us. They all moved out of the way and it was awkward, we were isolated in this circle in the middle, everyone too timid to interact with us.It was awkward. We asked, tons of people around us if our train was the next train because we were confused because not a lot of people were out on that platform; nevertheless, did the few people appear to be waiting for the nicest train in India. Anyway, the people were so nervous by our presence, they all nodded and said “yes” not even understanding our question.Though even then, the only train at our terminal definitely appeared not to be the nicest train in India, it looked more like a jail cell to me.So yeah, the jail on tracks ended up to be our train! What's even better is we were told this by this nice, kind family after our train already left the station! So yeah!Even better is our phones can’t call Indian numbers, so we couldn't call a nice car to pick us up #Stranded. We walked all around the gross, dirty train station trying to find tickets for another train, even though if the only nice train in the whole station already left, and wouldn't be returning anytime soon.So I pretty much couldn't imagine what kind of train I would be forced to stay on. We went up, down, left, right all over the disgusting train station. I’m not joking, there was poop on the top floor stairs, as well as we saw plus there was poop on the train tracks! Talk about gross! We finally found a booth to get tickets, yet it was the wrong booth, no clue why, but they sent us back upstairs to a supposable other correct booth.I swear, that whole place smelled like one big trash can!We walked over families sleeping on blankets to get upstairs. There were at least 4 blankets blocking our path. After 3 up and downs, going back to the first booth 3 times, confused as to where this fantasy booth was. Finally we walked through this random, ruined door to a couple of more booths, where we got the only tickets available on a local train. They told us we could upgrade to AC down near the train, so once again we through our self through the crowded station, in the 101 degree heat, once again lost and unable to find where we could get an upgrade, we wandered back and down the terminal. Then a train arrived, our supposal train. It was tattered, paint faded, bars as windows, and when my dad peeked inside, he said it smelled so bad, and the only seating was a tattered, stained bed/chair.After running up and down, trying to find where to get an upgrade, we were cut off by crowds of people entering the train. With the heat, dirt, and crowded area it was a nightmare. Trying to think how we could possibly survive on that death train for 3 hours to Agra, we finally huddled for a game plan. We knew Ansley, above all, would be completely miserable, so we decided to escape and try and find a taxi to the nearest nice hotel. Though getting out of that station was an issue, I was crammed into one small staircase along with 500 other passengers getting off the train next to us.After the struggle of getting out of the train station, came the struggle of finding a taxi. We were bombarded with taxi drivers begging us to come with them. We had 3 guys surrounding us, fighting over who would get to take us, though honestly none of those people's cars looked even close to acceptable.Seeing our little options, we settled on a taxi that actually said taxi on it.Though as we were leaving, our driver nodded at the other guy and they exchanged this mischievous smile. Then our guy got out and got on the phone before coming back in the car. We noticed quickly the guy was up to no good, he kept trying to take us off the correct path onto these random roads claiming it was the right way, yet my dad set up google maps to the nice hotel we chose, and was screaming and cussing at the guy when he tried to take us down random roads. Then this one point he took this complete deserted road, total wrong way, my dad was about to grab the wheel and throw the car into a wall. He screamed at the guy and forcibly made him turn around, going the wrong way at the oncoming traffic. The hotel we were looking for proved to be nonexistent, so my dad made the guy go the hour back to our hotel. Watching his every move because it was obvious he had plans of his own. His driving was insane, I felt sick the whole way, it was bad! When we finally got back to our hotel, my dad told us there was a good chance that guy was looking to take us to the middle of nowhere, meet up his friends, and force us to pay a large sum to be let free.It happened to my dad once, surprisingly.Anyway, beat and tired we collapsed in the chairs of the cafe. Where we all re-grouped. I was not giving up, at no cost was I not going to see the Taj Mahal, we were leaving tomorrow, so today was our only option. My sister,on the other hand, was the complete opposite, she wanted to remain back at the hotel, dramatised by our experience. My dad knew I would stop at nothing to do this lifetime experience, so he began brainstorming options. After my dad decided on taking a nice car out to Agra, Aleisha wanted to go as well, like me unwilling to take this experience for granted. Therefore, Ansley, unwilling to be left behind, decided to go. It was a 4 hour drive there! Most the time I spent talking with my dad about Indian culture, the new prime minister of India, and asking for all kinds of information, I know I'm a complete nerd. Half way through the trip Ansley had to pee so bad, and there was nowhere for her to go, but the side the road. So my dad opened two doors blocking her, our driver removed himself, and my dad blocked her with a scarf. Aleisha and I were dying of laughter. We kept passing by cows, fun fact in India they worship cows, and it was awesome. Later once we finally arrived, we were dropped off to a tour guide who escorted us to get tickets, then we rode in a gulf court like thing to the entrance of the Taj Mahal where our tour guide gave us a history lesson. The Taj Mahal was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal, to serve in remembrance of her after her death. She died giving birth to the same son who killed all his 3 brothers, and imprisoned his father, in his greedy desire for power. There was going to be a black version of the Taj Mahal for the emperor, yet was never built because the Emperor was put in jail before he could have it built. The Taj Mahal was cool, and looked like one giant piece of jewelry was so carefully created after 35 years of construction. Anyway, at the Taj people kept asking us for photos as if we were famous. After we took a photo with one person, a whole crowd joined in. We took at least 100 photos, having 10 cameras faced at us at once, people begging for photos. It was cool. There was a whole crowd around us, and when we walked away the crowd followed. It got to the point a police man had to come over, blowing his whistle to resolve the chaos. Anyway, we took a bunch of photos with both other, random people, as well as the Taj Mahal. After concluding our tour, we were brought back to our car and driver for another 4 hour car ride, which I slept for most of. Upon returning, we went to dinner at our hotel buffet restaurant, then tried to go swimming, yet the pool was closed. So instead, Aleisha and I went down to the gym, where I ran 5km and Aleisha did her military workouts, of some sort where she had guys watching her every second, impressed. I saved her a few times, one guy was trying to flirt with her, and I purposefully almost fell off the treadmill, causing her an excuse to escape. Another time, I screamed “Good work, Mom” causing every guy to leave her alone. She and her boyfriend were both glad I saved her.Anyway, then I got ready for bed and that was my day. Gotta say I’m living the dream:)
June 12:Around the World in 42 Days-Delhi, India
So today was not a typical day, today was special it was my birthday!Aleisha gave me my first birthday wish at 12:00 AM June 12th, so yeah she won! Then as morning arose, we went to this great buffet that had every type of food you could imagine. From hummus to pizza, to pasta they had it all.It was great. Then we went back to our room, where I showered, got ready, packed because we had a flight to India at 2:00.For the past 2 years I have been on a plane for my birthday! Though I love to travel, so it doesn't really phase me.Anyway, we went to the Airport around 12:00, checked our bags, went through security, the usual. Of course playing “the floor is lava” along the way.One security guard even stopped us, laughing, he asked what game we were playing. We got food from a Mexican restaurant similar to Qdoba or Chipotle. I got the vegetarian burrito, obviously, with guacamole, salsa, beans, cheese rice. Then, something awful happened, my dad told me his nachos were vegetarian, yet failed to realize the chili on them!Luckily, Aleisha noticed just as I took a bite of one, so I spit it out and successfully saved myself.Later, we were walking to our flight, my dad and Ansley stopped to get a watch one of my dads friends requested.Mean while, Aleisha and I headed to the gate, where we went into gift stores and yeah. Then we boarded the plane, beginning our voyage to India. On the plane I slept, wrote and revised journal entries, as well as read. Finally, after we arrived in India we could tell it was a bit chaotic. From the second we were getting off the plane, unlike America, it was far from orderly, people were pushing and gping around one another. As soon as we got off, we got on a bus heading to the main airport where we cleared customs and went through some security. Next, we grabbed our bags and exited the airport, where we got 2 taxis.Unfortunately, we were forced to split up because one taxi could not hold all 4 of us and our luggage, Aleisha and I went one taxi, while Ansley and my dad went in another. The first thing I noticed was the absence of seatbelts, the taxis didn't have seatbelts!Next think I figured out was that cars in India don't stay in one lane, instead swerve from lane to lane, and honk every time they swerve in front of another car. trunk It was chaos! Also, there are so many speed bumps in India! It was insane! When we got to the hotel, security people checked the trunk of our taxi, for who knows what, then the taxi dropped us off in front, then us and our bags went through a metal detector before we could even enter the building ! I felt like I was back at the airport. So then we went to dinner at this great buffet, it literally had everything! I got to try a bunch of new Indian foods I've never seen before. Finally, later at night Aleisha,Ansley and I all went to the gym.We worked out for 1 hour, working core, legs, and abs. After we went back to our room, we got ready and went to bed because we have an early day tomorrow. Gotta say I’m living the dream:)
June 11:Around the World in 42 Days-Dubai
So today was a pretty epic day!Our day started off with a breakfast buffet at our hotel, and then straight after that we got on our bathing suits, we went down and made a reservation to go paddle boarding. We were going to only get to have 2 boards, and the original plan was to have Ansley on Aleisha’s board, yet they stopped us halfway out and made us come back, making Ansley have her own board. So that was fun, but anyway, other than that, we had a great time paddle boarding, we saw a jellyfish and Ansley found a Sand Dollar, which she lost, it somehow fell off her paddleboard. We went pretty far out into the Persian Gulf, kind of halfway, we were given a special set of boundaries which we couldn’t pass, but we passed just a bit, not by too much.So anyway, we made sure that we returned within our 30-minute span because we were scared that if we went over ours time, they would make us pay for a full hour instead of only 30 minutes. So yeah, we tried to avoid having to pay extra.PaddleBoarding was awesome, but by the end, it was so funny because Aleisha was pulling Ansley and Ansley's paddleboard back to the shore because Ansley was tired. So yeah, that was really fun, then after that, we just were looking for shells for Aleisha’s picture frame creation that she's going to make, and then also we took on the great task of trying to catch a little fish with our hands, but we were failing miserably. So yeah, it was funny, they were quick and clever little things. Anyway, straight from playing at the beach, I went straight to my Royal Swim, Dolphin encounter, where first off I had to get fitted for a wetsuit, and then we had to watch a seminar video thing, as well as, they went over information about the program and facts about a dolphin. After, during my 30-minute encounter, I got to first meet a dolphin, by feeling it and touching it, getting a chance to see a dolphin up close and get a sense for its character and appearance.Second, I got to hold onto the dorsal fins of two dolphins, while they pulled me across the lagoon; then I got to give the dolphin a hug and a kiss. I also got the opportunity to hold the dolphin in my arms, it was so cool and so sweet! The dolphin was as heavy as if I was holding my 70-pound sister.Next, I got to lay on a boogie board and put out my feet, and a dolphin with his/her nose would push me across the lagoon. It was so cool and then I got to just play with the dolphins for a bit. Finally, at the very end, the Dolphins performed tons of tricks and stuff, they were like doing flips and twirling! It was so impressive! Straight after my encounter, we had to rush to get back to the hotel to get ready for our Sand Dune Bashing experience.Soon after, we were in a car, driving out to the Red Sand Dunes, and then before we started our Sand Dunes Bashing, we got to stop in a convenience store like a place. We all got transitional, cultural outfits. Straight after that, our tour guide drove us out to the Sand Dunes and drove up, down, and around all the Sand Dunes. It was so much fun, we were practically flying over Sand Dunes! We were like swerving and sliding, and it was so cool! It was as if we were on a roller coaster. We did this for about 30 minutes going over Sand Dunes, and just having a bunch of fun. Our driver was great and it was just so epic! My favorite part was when we got to really steep Sand Dunes, and we flew over them in our car. There were several times I thought the car was going to flip, but luckily the car never flipped. In the middle of the desert, we pulled over and took tons of photos, and I got to roll down a huge Sand Dune, it was spectacular. We got some great photos of us just in the middle of the desert, appearing to be stranded in the middle of nowhere. It was such a cool experience. Then, after, we went to this little village like an area where we got to ride camels and get Henna. When we were riding the camels, it was so scary when they got up and when they laid back down because they got up so fast, starting in a downward dog position, for both getting up and laying back down, it was insane. Though it was pretty cool riding a camel in the middle of the desert. My dad and I rode on one camel, while Aleisha and Ansley were on another. It was epicness! Well anyway, after we were ready to leave, our tour guide took us back to our hotel. We went straight to an Italian restaurant for dinner because we did not eat since 11 AM and it was 8 o'clock at that point, so we all were starving, and we were so glad when we saw food in front of us. I got spaghetti marinara with a hint of basil, my usual Italian order. It was so good, I ate all of it. That was that one crazy dinner, my sister cut a hole in a piece of bread, and was putting her eye through it and looking at us, and then I was having trouble drinking with my straw without using my hands to hold the straw, random challenge of mine, so Aleisha played a trick on me, by holding the straw out to help me, and then she was actually moving it, so I couldn't drink it and I looked like a fool. I didn't notice, I thought I kept bumping the straw or something. Then also we were playing with breadsticks and things like that. It was a great dinner. Then, anywho, once we went back to the hotel, we pretty much chilled for the rest the night. Basically, I got ready for bed and now I am writing this blog.So yeah, I guess you can say I’m living the dream:)
